    Aim of This Course

The Jazz Tracker course is tailored to prepare students to learn the necessary skills to assist them to gain access to a third level degree. The course was written by Kevin Lawlor (BAJP), Director of Jazz at CWSM, and Patrick Molitor, Jazz Theory and Jazz Piano tutor at CWSM.

  • Classes on the Course include Jazz Theory, Jazz Instrumental Ensemble, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Rhythm Class, Jazz Master Class and Instrument Lessons. Students will learn the basics of Jazz Improvisation, terminology, different styles of music (Latin, Funk, Swing) as well as how to perform in a Jazz group through ensemble work that concludes in a minimum of two performances during the year.

The Course runs from September - May over the academic year and costs €2,000. Classes take place every Monday from 6pm to 9.30pm and students are expected to have a busy practice routine on days they are not at CWSM. Applicants should be confident players and may be required to audition.
